The Farmer’s Wife 1930’s is a paper-pieced block of the month series of classes. This is a great class to enhance your paper-piecing skills. It is also a good learning tool for beginners.

Sessions are the 2nd Friday of the month from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, beginning September 13, 2024 through August 13, 2025. We are allotting 12 months for the program with the potential for a 13th month if participants desire.  Without borders or sashing, the quilt is approximately 78″ x 95”.The goal is six 6” blocks per month in class. The 13th month, should we choose to do it, will address the triangular setting blocks that complete the quilt top.   Price $225 for 12, possibly 13 sessions. Includes book.

For the first class bring a selection of in contrasting colors (see Supplies List, below), as well the tools necessary for cutting the fabric for the blocks. We will discuss vellum during this first class. We recommend 17# or 62 gsm translucent paper. Try Amazon or Walmart online. JAM is a good brand for this paper. You will need at least one package of 100 sheets.

Classes will run four hours, from 10:00 to 2:00, during each of the monthly sessions beginning Friday, September 13, 2024, and continuing on the subsequent second Fridays of the month. Mark your calendars and join us!

Our teacher for this class is Kathleen Bassi. Kathleen began quilting a bit tentatively about 10 years ago. Once she retired, she went gangbusters and sews nearly every day. Her favorite piecing method is paper piecing, and she often converts standard block patterns into paper piecing patterns.
