Have you never paper pieced before but always wanted to learn? Or have you been frustrated by previous paper piecing experiences? Perhaps you want to enhance your paper piecing skills. Come take this class!
We will go through a paper piecing approach that uses vellum, or translucent paper, so that you can see what you are doing. We have 7 class sessions; each three hours from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Each student receives a copy of the “Paradox Point Pattern Book” included as part of the class. Price is $120 for all 7 three hour classes. Classes are held in Studio 110, next door to our main Studio.

During the first class, we will both cut and sew. After the first class, you will have to copy your patterns before class (there will not be copying capabilities available at the studio), and it will be more efficient if you cut your fabric prior to class. We will provide cutting instructions for the entire class at the first meeting.
Fabric Requirements:
- ¼ yard or a fat quarter of 12 assorted fabrics (Color A) or 2½ yards of a single color fabric (all Color A would be the same)
- ¼ yard or a fat quarter of 12 assorted contrasting fabrics (Color B) or 2½ yards of a single contrasting fabric (all Color B would be the same)
- 1¾ yard of contrasting fabric (Accent; all Accent colors are the same)
- 6½ yards of background fabric
Supplies:
- Pattern book, “Paradox Point” (comes with the class)
- Add-a-quarter ruler (either 6” or 12”)
- Vellum or translucent paper no heavier than 17# (you will need at least 88 sheets)
- Glue stick (washable glue) (We will provide you with one during the first class, but you may need more than that one glue stick for the whole class.)
- Cellophane tape
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting mat
- Scissors for cutting paper
- Sewing machine in good working order
- Normal sewing supplies (thread, bobbins, etc.)
- 12” and 24” rulers recommended
- Thin point Sharpie recommended
- Baggies or clips or other organizational method recommended after the first class
Our teacher is Kathleen Bassi. Kathleen began quilting a bit tentatively about 10 years ago. Once she retired, she went gangbusters and sews nearly every day. Her favorite piecing method is paper piecing, and she often converts standard block patterns into paper piecing patterns.
