Class is designed to teach advanced maintenance, disassembly and testing, and techniques to enhance your abilities with the Singer Model 221. You should already have some experience using this machine and have a full functional sewing machine. If you are new to the Singer 221, have a new machine, or need basic operational training or simple repairs, then please consider our Basic Maintenance Class Singer Model 221 (Featherweight).

Motor and Belt
 Lower Bobbin Case and Hook Assembly
 Top Tension Assembly
 Needle and Presser Bar – Adjustments
 Final Tension Adjustments – Test Sewing and Discussion

Class Supplies (please bring with you)
– A working sewing machine with power cord and foot control.
– A new needle (80/12 or 90/14); we recommend Schmetz Microtex.
– Cotton thread (40-50wt) and two (2) full bobbins and test fabric.
– Hand or small bath towel, and an apron or work shirt.
– Tools appropriate for the machine (screwdrivers, etc.).
– A small table lamp, if available.

Dave Eaton

Our instructor is Dave Eaton from “So Old Sew New.” Dave also teaches basic maintenance of these wonderful sewing machines. This class will teach you even more.
